It's our First Anniversary!

In our one-year anniversary episode, Daphne and I talk to Luth Brodie of Reel Expression -- our first interview with an animator!  We also announce our Avatar of Style and read some comments from our listeners.  There's also an incomprehensible voicemail from one of our favorite friends.  Want to know more?  Sorry, you'll have to listen to the show!

It was just a year ago Tamara and I were gearing up for our first interview and the launch of our podcast.  Since then we have had 20 1/2 Episodes, 24 Interviewees, 9 Avatars of Style and more store reviews than I want to count.  As we get ready to record this weekend we are remembering some of our favorite moments of the past year.  We would love your input too! So, think back over the year (ok, that's what the archives is for) and let us know what your favorite Going Broke Moments were or just send us well wishes and we will include them on the next show.

Miko Omegamu's Icing is the destination for classic feminine styles.  While she has definitely mastered the flexi prim, her system skirt outfits are what truly set her apart from the crowd.

Onyx LeShelle's Maitreya is one of my favorite stores in the metaverse!  While her clothes, hair and poses are adorable, what really made her famous are her shoes.  Her textures are just about the most realistic and sumptuous around.  She makes glossy patents, buttery leathers, soft velvets, and luscious suedes.  Of course, the styles and colors are up-to-the-minute as well, making shoe shopping at Maitreya positively addictive!

In my picture, I'm wearing Maitreya's Tunic dress, Aimee hair, and Verve shoes; Marlys' Poos's Perfume jewelry; and Minnu Model Skins' skin.

In a dramatic castle on the Avilion Mist sim, Serenity Sieyes and Malakh Giles display their fantastic clothes and jewelry.  Focusing on fantasy wear, Avilion Mist is filled with elaborate flowing gowns and capes, intricate jewelry, and even attire for tinies.

In her picture, Daphne is wearing Avilion Mist's Mystic RFL gown, Mystic circlet, and Inspiration Collection earrings and necklace; Maitreya's Dune boots;  Blowpop's Mellie3 skin; and ETD's Keri hair.

At BettiePage Voyager's shop on the Osaka sim, you can find hair, skins, and adorable clothes.  Be sure to comb the shelves for fun finds like the Angry Rabbit legwarmers!

Hexed by Kya Eliot is a great place to shop for traditional and goth casual clothes.  You can also find prefab homes and fun scripted items!

We have a new promo!

No, the title of the show doesn't refer to our guest, TheDiva Rockin.  It refers to the show itself.  An interview with TheDiva is a lot of fun and very entertaining, but I can't remember what we were supposed to talk about.  Perhaps it had something to do with her being the chief of Second Life's Fashion Police. 

She's certainly seen her share of fashion "don'ts" on the grid, and she shares them with us in her blog SL Fashion Police.  Sometimes the fashion faux pas are funny, sometimes they're raunchy, sometimes they're just plain wrong. 

In any case, watch what you wear so that you don't get ticketed by TheDiva's crew!

Our latest Avatar of Style is blogger and model Ana Lutetia.  Her polished classic style is only out-shined by her sunny personality.

Here, Ana's wearing Persona's Helena shirt and waist sash; Celestial Studios' cords; AC Vintish shoes; Truth's Montague hair; Celestial Studios' Vogue skin; Awesome's Glitter manicure; and, of course, poses of her own design.

On this episode of Going Broke, we spoke with one of Second Life's most famous avatars, caLLie cLine.  Not only does she design clothing and furniture for her own store, caLLie cLine, she was also named one of Maxim magazine's Hot 100, and she worked with Pontiac on Motorati Island.  With a schedule like caLLie's, we were sure grateful that she could take the time to talk with us.

Not one to read fashion blogs, caLLie designs what she likes, and has built a very loyal following doing just that.  Her designs are fun, flirty, feminine, and quite colorful -- not for the shy!

This episode of Going Broke, we sat down with Launa Fauna.  Not only is she the designer behind LF Fashions -- the store with the best jeans in Second Life, she's also the skin artist behind Chai.  And, as if that weren't enough, she's also a lingerie designer, along with Nephilane Protagonist, who puts out a yearly Valentine's line called Love Lace.  Sit back and enjoy the interview!

Noelle Eilde of Argyle makes the most perfect sweaters for cold winter days.  If you're still cold after putting on one of her adorable sweaters, add one of her scarves.  Of course, even in warmer weather, you'll appreciate her cute outfits and accessories.

Sometimes, you meet someone so stylish, it's just too dangerous to post a picture.  Sometimes, you meet someone who just keeps forgetting to get you a picture.  Fortunately, Vasean Talamasca is neither.  Catero Revolution describes Vasean as a "style guy" that all the guys want to be and all the girls want to jump.  Looking at that picture, I don't wonder why.

Would you blame us if we never had another show for men ever again?  Really, don't you remember the effects of Episode 3?  Honestly, you'd be okay with us not going through that pain again, right?  We're sure you would.  We have the best listeners around!

Well, for that very reason, we decided to venture once again into the murky waters of men's fashions in Second Life.  This time, we actually put some thought into who we'd invite onto the show.  Yes, that's right!  No wind-up midget butler, no shoeless wonder, and no Johnny-3-outfits!  We sought out people who really understand men's fashions and CARE about them!

Just for you, we've interviewed Kirk Claymore and Maddox DuPont of KMADD Enterprises.  They're the pair behind the upscale men's fashion sim, KMADD City.  There, male avies will find fashions by Redgrave, Casa del Shai, Paper Couture, Minnu Model Skins as well as many others.  The sim is also home to KMADD's own shape store and image consulting business, as well as their modeling agency and photography studio. 

Sit back and enjoy a men's fashion show that's really about men's fashion!  Really!

I have been experiencing some difficulties uploading Going Broke Episode #16.  As soon as I can get it to upload properly I will hit that publish button and you can hear the great interview we had with Kirk Claymore and Maddox Dupont of KMadd.

I wonder though, the last men's episode we did, #3, gave me lots of troubles too... Maybe it's the topic.  Men are just difficult sometimes.

So, you want to take a creative picture, but you can't find a gurney, IV stand, blood spatter or gyno chair.  What do you do?  Give up and take another prettily posed snapshot?  Fuck no!  You go to Rx Pirates and stock up on surplus medical supplies for all of your photo prop, and medical, needs.

Ever wonder what you'd look like if your kidneys had been stolen?  How about hanging from a gallows?  As a zombie?  Visit Sick-N-Wrong to find out!  If you want some very creative and, well, sick, animations, here's where to go!

It's not every day we get to speak with someone who's known by just one name, you know, like Madonna or Cher.  This week, we had the opportunity to do just that when we spoke with Simone Stern (okay, she has a last name) of Simone!

Simone is one of SL's most established and prolific designers and she has some great stories to tell!  Join us as we learn more about Simone's charity work and her store's TV debut on CSI: New York this past fall.

You had to know this was coming.  It wasn't a big secret.  If you've been listening faithfully, as we know you have, you'd have seen this coming a mile away.  Honestly, she was our Avatar of Style, a semi-featured designer (Savvy?), a frequent topic of conversation, a prominent SL model and muse, makes sense she'd appear as a guest doesn't it? 

How could we go an entire show without mentioning her name?  We couldn't.  And if you're talking about style and fashion in SL, neither can you.  Her name is almost synonymous with both.  This talented Australian university student is an "IT" girl if there ever was one.  She's creative, talented, and has an eye you wouldn't believe.  If we didn't have her on  the show soon, you should have forced us off of your MP3 player.  Thankfully, we brought her to you, and we can continue to happily blow through Lindens like nobody's business. MWAH!!!!
